Curated by Andrea V Rivas, the exhibition brings together local artists: Anthony Diaz, Barbara Felix, Damian Di Lisio, Dinah Coakley, Emmanuel Rangel, Feda Zidan, Jorge Blanquet, Karen Faye, Kristina Salinas, Mauro Murillo, Monica Leyva, Werner Mendizabal, Yolanda Rios, and Zando.
“Frida Kahlo was the first artist to ignite my path. Her intimate, fearless works taught me to turn inward, to paint myself without hesitation. We are bound, too, by spinal and foot injuries from accidents that forever shaped our lives. Like her, I root my work in cultural pride. Her radiant spirit lives on, glowing in the heart of my art,” shared artist Barbara Felix.
“Being part of 'The Frida in Us' exhibition is a profound honor,” said artist Jorge I. Blanquet. “ Growing up in Mexico City and sharing both Indigenous and Spanish heritage (like her), I feel a deep personal connection to Frida Kahlo. I’m proud to celebrate her legacy, not only as a remarkable artist, but as a powerful symbol of resilience, womanhood, and Mexican identity.”
Don't miss the chance to experience the Opening Night reception, which will take place on 3FRI Art Walk, the 3rd Friday of September 19, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Visitors are encouraged to visit the San Antonio Street Art Initiative D.R.E.A.M. Mural Arts District, The Aiden’s speakeasy lounge No Vacancy, and Beauty Haus’ Night Market at St. Paul Square. The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge 24 hours a day from September 19 to October 10, 2025. The Pop-Up Gallery will rotate every month, with openings on the 3rd Friday.
